After two games at the opening round of the NAIA softball tournament in Oklahoma, Morningside's season is over.
The Mustangs lost to second-seeded Central Methodist of Missouri, 9-4. Morningside gave up four runs in the first inning and three more in the second and trailed 7-0.
The Mustangs cut into the lead with four runs in the fourth, Taylor Daas had a three-run double but it wasn't enough.
Morningside pitcher Jordan Johnson got the first two out in the first inning before the third runner reached on an error. Central Methodist then scored four unearned runs and Johnson left after just one inning.
Morningside finishes the season at 31-16 while Central Methodist advances at 35-11. The Mustangs were competing in one of ten opening round sites around the country.
