Family, friends, and colleagues honor USA Today founder Al Neuharth

Friends, family and colleagues are honoring the life of Al Neuharth Friday.  A 10:00 a.m. ceremony brought many together at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, Neuharth's alma mater.

USD's mass communication and media center is named in Neuharth's honor.

Neuharth died April 19th in Florida, at the age of 89.

Governor Dennis Daugaard has also proclaimed Friday, May 17th, Al Neuharth Day.

Neuharth is a Eureka, S.D. native and 1950 graduate of the University of South Dakota.  He returned to USD each year to present the Al Neuharth Award to a member of the media.
