Ribbon cutting is held for Central Park in Norfolk, NE
The official ribbon cutting was held Friday morning to celebrate the completion of several Central park improvements in Norfolk.
Improvements include a butterfly garden and spray painted mural on the restroom structure.
The dedication was attended by various community leaders and Norfolk Junior High students, who were an integral part of the renovation process.
Also in attendance were various members of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce and the Norfolk Arts Center, who headed up the Park Improvement Process.
Arts Center Events Coordinator Melinda Kozel says with both physical and monetary donations, the renovations total cost came in at under $5,000.
Kozel says it could not have been done without the help of the Junior High students.
Melinda Kozel, Norfolk Arts Center Events Coordinator said, "They were not only help in terms of physical labor, but their ideas fueled a lot of what we did. Some of their work went into the mural and just working with them and hearing what their thoughts are was just really incredible."
Continuing work will include finishing up work on the stage structure and the construction of a reading nook. The celebration will continue throughout this weekend with live music Saturday afternoon.
The Arts Center is also working on showing movies this summer in Central Park.
