Gas prices spike and cause travel interruptions

Some gas stations in the Sioux City area have hit $4.00 per gallon.

The 50-cent price spike, which has come in the last month, could put the brakes on some people's summer travel plans.

People we talked to Friday said they are planning to change travel plans for this summer, and the high prices have already impacted some drivers' habits.

"Instead of going out, and just, ya know, driving around and looking at things and going out to the rivers and stuff, I won't be able to do that anymore," said Marla Polly, Sioux City driver.

Peak season for summer travel generally runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
