Jason Jarvis gave up just one hit over seven innings in the X's 3-0 win at Sioux Falls on Friday.
The Sioux City Explorers improved to 2-0 on the young American Association season with a 3-0 win in Sioux Falls on Friday night behind an outstanding pitching effort from starter Jason Jarvis. The righthander gave up just one hit through seven innings to earn the victory, striking out three with just one walk.
Cody Satterwhite pitched a scoreless eighth inning while Chris Bodishbaugh pitched the ninth to earn his second save in two days.
Sioux City broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning. Third baseman Bryan Pounds doubled and then scored after two Sioux Falls errors to give the X's a 1-0 lead.
The X's padded their lead in the seventh inning when right fielder Peter Barrows hit a two run homer to left field to make it 3-0. Barrows also drove in two runs in Thursday's home opener against the Canaries. Sioux City left 13 runners on base.
The four game series continues Saturday and Sunday in Sioux Falls. The Explorers come back home on Monday to play New Jersey.
