Norfolk, NE is taking steps to make it easier to access downtown businesses

A Siouxland community is taking steps that city officials say will make it easier to access its downtown merchants.

City officials in Norfolk say the recent revitalization of the downtown area has created what they call a "good problem to have" people are having trouble finding places to park.

The City Council recently asked the Vehicle Parking District Board to come up with some recommendations as to how the City could change that which the Council approved Monday night.

The Board is recommending the city designate all downtown parking spots to one of three groups, downtown residents, employees, and visitors.

The visitors would get to park for free in their designated spots while residents and employees would have their own spots for which they would have to buy annual parking passes.

City officials say they think the new rules will help make downtown Norfolk more accessible to visitors from outside of town.
