A Sioux City teacher loses his hair. But it's all for a good cause.

Students at Riverside Elementary got out the clippers as a reward for achieving their goal.

That goal, having a 97 percent attendance record for the last month of school. When they did, they got to shave Jim McKilliop's hair. He's the school's physical education teacher.

School officials say the kids were very motivated and attendance is the first step for education.

"I had kids pretty much everyday, 'are we going to shave your head, are we going to shave your head?' I said, 'well, we got to earn it, we got to earn it.' So they did and they talked even with each other, 'we got to get to school'," said Jim McKillop, Riverside Elementary P.E. Teacher.

Some students who had perfect attendance throughout the year got some free pizza. The kids last day of school is Thursday.
