SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -
The Sioux City West boys soccer team won their Class 3A substate opener, 6-0, over Sgt. Bluff-Luton on Tuesday night. The Wolverines improve to 14-2 on the season while the Warriors finish 5-10.
Right after kickoff the skies opened up. The rain not enough to slow this West offense. Ali Muhktar found the back of the net for a 1-0 Wolverine lead. Two minutes later, Gilbert Garcia made a move and fired one that took a funny hop and bounced past the keeper to make it 2-0.
The Wolverines, who have outscored their opponents 53-14 this season, added four second half goals to provide the final margin. West also beat SBL 9-0 in the regular season.
West will visit East on Thursday at 5:00 PM in the substate semifinal.
