UPDATE: Sioux City man accused of shooting cop faces other charges

Accused police shooter, Jamal Dean, was back in court for his arraignment on charges he faces for a robbery back in April.

The man changed with shooting and injuring a Sioux City police officer was in court, not for that charge of attempted murder, but for robbery charges in another case.

Jamal Dean smiled to his friends and family as he walked in the courtroom Wednesday morning.

Dean faced Woodbury County Judge Tood Hensley for five charges, including robbery, burglary, two counts of theft, and assault while participating in a felony.

Authorities say Dean beat and robbed a man at gun point in his home in the Leeds neighborhood.

In court Wednesday, Dean pleaded not guilty.

Dean and his attorney waived his right to a speedy trial.

The judge set his trial date for August 20th.

Jamal Dean's brother, Levon, is also charged in that robbery case.
