South O'Brien teacher & coach killed in car crash

PRIMGHAR, Iowa (KTIV) -

The Iowa State patrol says 24-year-old Derrick Rensink, formerly of Sioux Center, was traveling on county road B40 near Redwood Avenue in Primghar, when he went into the ditch, hitting a concrete culvert.  He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Rensink was a fourth grade teacher and girls basketball coach at South O'Brien.

Funeral services are Thursday at 1:30 at the New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
