Chimp photos sell high

Posted:

Blurry photos from your vacation may only have sentimental value, but if they were taken by a chimp they could be worth thousands.

Photos of the Red Square in Moscow sold for $77,000 in London Thursday.

They're blurry and not framed well, but it's the artist's fame that drove the price up.

Mikki the chimp took the pictures in 1998 under the guidance of two Russian artists.

The photos were put on sale by Sotheby's auction house as part of their Russian art season.

One Russian collector, who managed to take home four of the photos, said Mikki may have done a better job than a human.

Unfortunately Mikki never got to see others appreciation for his work.

He died in 2007.
