BOONE COUNTY (KWWL) -

The body of a missing central Iowa teen may have been found Friday night.

The remains of what is likely to be 15-year-old Kathlynn Shepard was discovered Friday night, according to authorities who spoke at a press conference early Saturday morning.

Shepard disappeared May 20th after getting off of a school bus. Search efforts along the Des Moines river were anticipated to continue this weekend after being suspended due to weather conditions.

Officials say the body found Friday night is likely to be Shepard's because the zipties found with the body were consistent with those also used on the 12-year-old girl.

Shepard and a 12-year-old girl were abducted last month after getting off their school bus in Dayton. The 12-year-old got away from her abductor and ran to safety.

Michael Klunder was later found dead of an apparent suicide, and is alleged to have kidnapped both girls.

Police say Klunder lured the girls with promises of lawn work, then took them to a hog confinement where he used to work.
