SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
With the tying run on second, Explorers closer Chris Bodishbaugh struck out Brandon Pinckney to preserve Sioux City's 9-8 win over the Airhogs Sunday night at Lewis & Clark Park.
Jimmer Kennedy picked up the victory, his second of the season, tossing 2.1 innings of shutout baseball. It's Bodishbaugh's seventh save.
The win moves Sioux City to 13-16 on the year.
After giving up five runs in the first inning, Sioux City scored three in the bottom of the first and added two more in the second to tie the game up at five.
They would take the lead in the third on an RBI single from Brian Bistagne. The second baseman finished the game going 3-for-5 at the plate. He also scored a run. Leugim Barroso also collected three hits and drove in five runs in the victory.
The X's added three more runs in the sixth, the GP added a run in the eighth and two more in the ninth, before Bodishbaugh was able to close things out.
Sioux City heads to Lincoln for a three game series Monday, before returning to Lewis & Clark Park on Thursday to begin a seven game homestand.
