UPDATE: An accident near Correctionville, Iowa requires the Jaws of Life to save Siouxland man

An Ames, Iowa man is airlifted to a Sioux City hospital after his car and a semi collide near Correctionville.

The semi driver, 57 year-old Richard Davis of Milford, Iowa told authorities that the car crossed the center line and into his lane of travel.

Davis says he tried to get over but was unable to get over far enough but the two were crossing a bridge at the time.

The accident caused that section of Highway 20 to shut down for a time.

Authorities say Davis was not hurt.

The 25 year-old driver of the car was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center.

"He was responding to the medical treatment that Mercy paramedics in the helicopter had given him, so that was a good sign," said Dave Drew, Woodbury County Sheriff.

The condition of that driver is not known at this time.

The accident is still under investigation.
