Sioux City scored two runs in the ninth and brought the winning run to plate, but it wasn't enough as the Explorers fell 5-3 to Wichita Thursday night at Lewis & Clark Park.

Trailing 5-1 heading in the final frame, Brian Bistagne led the inning off with a walk and advanced to second following a single by Alberto Espinosa.

Eliezer Mesa would advance both runners on a fielder's choice.  Sam Judah followed with a ground out to short, allowing Bistagne to score to pull Sioux City within 5-2.

Hitless all night, Yusuke Inoguchi collected his first hit of the game, doubling to plate Espinosa to make it a 5-3 game.

After a pitching change, Josh Dew struck out Peter Barrows to preserve the win.

Going 1-for-5 Mesa extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single to lead off the first inning.

Andy Noga took the loss for the X's, dropping his sixth straight contest. His last win came in his first start of the season, a 5-4 win over Sioux Falls.
