Eliezer Mesa blooped a one out single down the right field line, driving in Brian Bistagne as the Sioux City Explorers rallied to beat Wichita 7-6 Saturday night in 11 innings.
After being hit by a pitch to start the 11th, catcher Adrian Martinez was replaced by Bistagne, who moved to second on a sac-but by Anthony Kaskadden.
On a 3-2 count, Mesa picked up his second hit of the game, driving home Bistagne.
Since winning his first start of the season, X's hurler Josh Rainwater has struggled. He was lifted after just 2.2 innings of work, his shortest outing of the season, after giving up eight hits and six runs to the Wingnuts.
Jon Plefka, Cody Satterwhite and closer Chris Bodishbaugh kept the Wichita bats quiet after that, giving up just three hits over the final 8.1 innings of the game. Bodishbaugh earned the win.
Trailing 3-0 in the first, the Sioux City's answered with three of its own on an three RBI triple from Yusuke Inoguchi.
Down 6-3 heading into the sixth, the X's pulled even with a run in the bottom of the frame and added two more in the seventh.
Sioux City will for the series split Sunday. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. at Lewis & Clark Park.
