Bronson, IA home likely a total loss following Sunday fire
This Bronson, Iowa, home sustained heavy smoke damage from a fire on Sunday.
A Bronson, Iowa home is likely a total loss, after an afternoon fire Sunday. Firefighters received a call just after 3 p.m. from a passerby that the house at 2431 Deer Run Trail was on fire.
When crews arrived, they say the entire home was filled with smoke. Authorities say the fire started in the utility room of the basement and spread through the rest of the home.
They believe that fire was electrical in nature. Several nearby fire crews provided mutual aid.
"It's better, particularly when you talk about a structure that you have more help than get caught short-handed. So, we had extra pumping equipment here, extra water here and manpower," said Dave Amick, public information officer for the Bronson Fire Department.
Crews worked for hours to slow the flames and salvage what they could from the inside of the building. Amick says the home suffered extensive smoke damage inside.
