Smurf Day

Posted:

BRUSSELS, Belgium - People in Brussels painted the town blue this weekend as they celebrated the second-annual global smurf day.

The event took place in more than 50 cities around the world to celebrate the birthday of Pierre peyo, the creator of the little blue creatures.

In Peyo's hometown of Brussels, more than 40 smurf ambassadors met at the site of a giant smurf statue.

Dressed in full costume and excited to represent their country, the ambassadors posed for pictures and met with mascots promoting the new smurf movie.

They then took the party to the train station where the ambassadors were given a final farewell and took off to Paris, where the movie takes place.
