West 7th Street business looks to rebuild and expand

A longtime Sioux City-based company is hoping a state tax incentive program will help it expand.

Dennis Supply Company has been a wholesale distributor of HVAC equipment since 1935.  They've applied for 312-thousand dollars in Targeted Jobs Tax Withholding credits.

Their plans including tearing down an old warehouse whose roof caved in.  The company will build a new 13,000 square foot warehouse on the site.

The investment is projected to be $650,000.

"The project would retain 18 jobs in Iowa that all pay a pretty decent salary, so they're good jobs to keep in Sioux City," Economic Development Specialist Chris Myres explained to city leaders Monday night.

The company's project fits in with the city's plans to revitalize West 7th Street, and city leaders hope it will spark further redevelopment in the area.

Construction on the business could be done by fall.
