East falls to 13-5 with the loss.
No. 10 Sioux City East had the bases loaded and brought the winning run to the plate, but with two down No. 9 Harlan closed the door, preserving the 5-2 win Monday night.
Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, East put Trey Lapke and Hayden Godfrey on base courtesy of back-to-back fielding errors by the Cyclones. Lapke would score on a wild pitch and Godfrey would score on a ground out by JJ Stephens to tie the game at two.
In the top of the sixth, Harlan opened the inning with back-to-back singles. After a walk to load the bases, the Cyclones took a 3-2 lead on a fielding error by East. After an RBI single by Nate Gettys to make it 4-2, with the bases still loaded, Harlan's Jake Daeges was hit by a pitch to drive in the third run of the frame.
Still trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, East loaded the bases, but with two outs Jake McDonald struck out to end the game.
The loss snaps the Black Raiders six game winning streak.
