UNI adds four Siouxland athletes to 2013 T&F squad

UNI Head Track and Field Coach Dan Steele has announced an additional 19 outstanding signees for the 2013 class, bringing the total to 31.
 
"This is a very special group of young men and women," Steele said. "We are thrilled to add these incredible student-athletes to our Panther family. The staff did a terrific job."
 
In all, the 2013 recruiting class combined for an incredible 38 State titles.   Four are from Siouxland.

Brody Eischeid, Manson Webster HS, Manson, IA- Sprints
Manson Webster's multi-sport star, Brody Eischeid will join UNI's talented squad of long sprinters next year.  Equally known for his basketball talents, the seven-time Iowa State Champion is expected to make an immediate impact in the 400m and on the 4x400m relay.

Coach Steele on Eisched: Brody is a proven winner. I was blown away by his talent at the 2013 Iowa State championships. This kid is a big-time gamer and I can't wait to watch him compete in a Panther uniform."

Josh Markert, Manson Webster HS, Manson, IA- Multis, Jumps
2013 Drake Relays Champion and seven-time Iowa State Champion, Josh Markert will take on the best in Missouri Valley Conference in 2014. Josh will join UNI's nationally renowned decathlete crew and add important depth to the long and triple jump groups.

·         Long Jump PR- 22'9" 

Coach Steele on Markert: "When I watched him jump for the first time this year I knew he was going to be a great collegiate athlete. I am very happy he will be developing as a Panther. This kid is going to make a very big impact on UNI track and field.  Remember the name Josh Markert."

Trevor Ryen, OA-BCIG HS, Ida-Grove, IA- Sprints
Four-time Iowa state champion sprinter, Trever Ryen will be taking his talents to UNI next fall. Ryen made history this spring by winning every event he was entered in at the State Championships. Trever is expected to add important depth for the Panther's in the 100m, 200m, 400m and both relays.

Coach Steele on Ryen: "I knew I wanted to coach Trever the minute I met him. He is a classic blue-collar Iowa boy who works his tail off and refuses to give up. That's why he is so hard to beat. Trever was born to be a Panther."

Evan Colfack,  University of Sioux Falls/ Kingsley-Pierson Woodbury Central HS, Kingsley, IA- Throws
Transfer USF thrower, Evan Colfack, will join the Panther family in the fall. In 2013, Colfack placed 2nd at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships in the discus. As an Iowa prep, Colfack was an all-state football player and one of the best prep throwers in the state.

Coach Steele on Colfack: "Evan is a terrific young thrower and I am eager to get him on campus working with Coach Dan O'Mara. He's coming into a young and very talented throwing group. This young man has a ton of upside."
