South Dakota fireworks sales start Thursday

Posted:

NORTH SIOUX CITY, NE - Legal sale of fireworks in South Dakota starts Thursday.

Fire officials in South Dakota are urging safety ahead of the July 4th holiday.

Fire Marshal Paul Merriman says fire officials see a few injuries and unintentional fires every year from fireworks.

People can discharge fireworks legally up until July 7th this year.

Merriman says people should follow the instructions on the product, avoid using fireworks in places where a fire could start and keep a source of water nearby.
