Weisman ranked ninth in the Big Ten averaging more than 80 rush yards per game.
The running back situation at Iowa couldn't have gone any worse for the Hawkeyes last season.
It seemed like as every minute ticked off the game clock, another RB was hit by the injury bug.
A bright spot among the chaos: Mark Weisman emerged.
The walk-on burst on the scene in the third week of the season and never looked back, starting nine games.
The junior full back carried the load for the Hawkeyes, rushing for a team high 815 yards and 8 touchdowns last season. He averaged better than five yards per carry.
This time last year, Weisman was a relative unknown. Even after a standout year, he's not changing his approach heading into the fall.
"I don't think it's any different mentally, you just have to have that walk on mentality no matter what," he said. "Just working like someone is trying to out work you. Everyone is trying to out work you and you just have to keep working hard and get better each and every day."
Iowa kicks the season off August 31st against Northern Illinois. That game is in Iowa City and kicks off at 2:30 p.m.
