DELAWARE COUNTY (KWWL) -

High waters from the Wapsipinicon River forced the cancellation of this year's Linn County Fair.

Even though the fair is canceled, the Fair's 4-H livestock shows will still continue at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Manchester.

Jennifer Dunn, the president of the Linn County Fair, said fair officials received numerous offers from different counties to host the fair.

"We were lucky enough that Delaware called up and said, 'Hey, we are ready for you if you want to come up,' and we took them up on the offer," Dunn said.

Jacque Murray and her parents have been attending the Linn County 4-H dog show for years.

"This is my dog Chelsea and this is Chase," Murray said. "This is Chelsea's first year in the 4-H show, and Chase has been here for a couple years now."

The family had to drive an hour to attend the show due to the new location, but to them the drive didn't matter -- the show had to go on.

"We had to go to seven classes to qualify to go here today," Murray said. "It takes about 35 minutes just to get to those classes."

The fair was expected to draw many to the area, but due to the high waters fair officials say they expect attendance to be lower.

"With this we are only doing 4-H events," Dunn said. "A lot of our attendance comes from our grandstand events and other free ground activities. So it is very much a 4-H fair this year."

This year the Linn County Fair is celebrating 125 years, and it's the first time the fair was forced to move locations.

"You can't be mad when something like this happens," Dunn said. "You can't be mad at Mother Nature. It is what it is. We are all here with smiles. Yes, it can be frustrating, but it is one of those things that you just have to roll with the punches."

Those who purchased grandstand tickets for this year's Linn County Fair can exchange them at the 2014 fair for any grandstand event of equal or lesser value, or they can refund them.

The Linn County Fair 4-H livestock shows will continue at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Manchester until Monday.
