Star Wars "mini-con" brings a "galaxy far, far away" to Sioux City

George Lucas may have set his "Star Wars" movies in a galaxy far, far away, but the sci-fi franchise was alive and well in Sioux City, Saturday.

The 4th Star Wars "Mini-Con" took over ACME Comics and Collectibles. Whether you're a Jedi, or a Sith, there was something for everyone. You could watch Imperial troops race through the "Empire obstacle course", or you could join the "rebel alliance" and take your shot at a stormtrooper. Kevin McGarry, ACME Comics & Collectibles said, "We had a lot of fun doing it. The actors have fun, the kids have fun. I mean, look at these lines. And, we're having a great time, and we're supporting a very worthy cause 'Stand Up To Cancer.'"

The day's big draw was the voice of Yoda in the "Star Wars" animated series, Tom Kane. Usually, his voice acting is done in a sound booth with a handful of other voice actors. So, events, like this one, allow him to meet the fans that love his work. Tom Kane, "Yoda" Voice Actor said, "To actually see the expression on some kid's face when, you know, I 'talk like Yoda I do, yes.' And, they light up. That's a cool thing."

ACME Comics used to hold the "mini-con" every other year. But, because it's become such a big draw, McGarry said the store will hold the event every year.
