The Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office said the body of Jaime Adan Jamie-Vazquez was recovered from Storm Lake at around 3:15a.m. Sunday morning.

Officials said the 28-year-old's body was found along the North Shore of Storm Lake, which is east of Kings Point.

Once the body was removed from the water, it was brought to the State Medical Examiner's office in Ankeny for an autopsy.

Rescue crews were first called out to Storm Lake just after 4 p.m. Thursday, after a report of a boat capsizing. Authorities say Jaime Adan Jamie-Vazquez and 36-year-old Abel Almanza Troncoso were out on the rough waters when the weather began to turn.

"Very rough with 20, maybe 25 mile an hour wind gusts. I believe while they were fishing, the boat became unbalanced and capsized with both of them in it," said Major Doug Simons of the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said Troncoso was rescued by a jet ski, but Jamie-Vazquez was still nowhere to be found. Crews started out working the whole lake but were able to narrow their search field to about a 100 by 100 yard area. Still, the deep lake presented challenges.

"Because of the dredging operation, many valleys so to speak are on the bottom. So, it's a little harder to tell because the bottom's not perfectly flat," said Simons.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Buena Vista Sheriff's Department were joined by dive teams from Denison, Sioux and Plymouth counties. Officials said the currents were making the task much more difficult, even with DNR sonar equipment in use.
