Tourism on the rise at Arnolds Park

Boating isn't the only thing to do at the Iowa Great Lakes.

You can take a ride on a Ferris wheel or go shopping in Arnolds Park.

Amusement park general manager Scott Pyle said tourism has picked up this month.

Pyle said the holiday weekend has been one of the busiest times for the park.

He said Thursday alone more than 3,300 people passed through the gates.

Pyle said weather plays a big factor on how many people will head to the park.

"This year has been quite a bit better for the tourists and the locals to enjoy the weather because it's not so humid and it's not so hot, so we've seen a big increase over last year," Pyle said.

Pyle expects it to be busy the rest of the weekend and is hopeful it remains that way the rest of the summer.
