UPDATE:Driver suffers head trauma in crash that closed interstate

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

A two-vehicle crash shuts down a portion of Interstate 29.

Police say Jeremy Palmer, of Whiting, Iowa was merging onto I-29 south from Highway 20 when he came into contact with an SUV.
    

The crash caused the driver of the SUV, Matthew Gladden of Sioux City, to lose control and roll several times.   Police say Gladden was transported to the intensive care unit of Sioux City's Mercy Medical Center with head trauma.
    

Palmer's car crossed the center line, struck a barricade, and then a median barrier.  He's since been released from the hospital.
    

I-29 north of the Singing Hills Boulevard Exit and at the Highway 20 interchange was closed for more than five ours.
    

It opened back up around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
