'Play in the Park' attracts more than 100 people

Folks in Correctionville, IA had fun at Little Sioux Park Saturday morning.

More than 100 people came out to the park for the second annual 'play in the park' event.

Activities included archery, fishing, and water games.

Volunteer Coordinator Betty West said it was a good way to bring people out to the park.

"Our main objective is to get people interested in outdoors and learning more about Woodbury County parks and what our parks have to offer," West said.

Henry Miller has spent the week camping at the park with his family.

The youngster said his favorite activity was playing with the turtles.

"I think it's a really fun thing to have that they're doing down here and I think the turtle was the best part," Miller said.

Officials from the Woodbury County Conservation Board were pleased by the turnout.

They hope people will continue coming out to the parks the rest of the season.
