The Sioux City Explorers lost the opening game of their four game series at Fargo-Moorhead, 8-2, on Saturday night.
The X's (21-26) scored in the top of the first inning on an RBI single from Peter Barrows. The Redhawks tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first. Fargo-Moorhead took the lead with three runs in the third off of X's starter Preston Olson to make it 4-1.
The Redhawks (29-19), leaders in the American Association's North Division, scored four more runs in the fifth inning off of X's reliever Ryan Wilkins, a rookie from North Carolina State. Nic Jackson provided a two run double as the Redhawks extended their lead to 8-2. Wilkins pitched two innings.
The series continues with a 1:00 o'clock game on Sunday.
