UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's in Sioux City is getting a major upgrade.

Monday morning the hospital unveiled two new labs to better serve those with heart issues.

The cardiac catheterization lab will allow doctors to identify blockages easier than ever before.

And, the EP lab, which stands for electrophysiology, helps find heart issues with electrical pulses.

Hospital officials said these improvements are a huge benefit for their patients and to the community.

"The most important thing is to let people know in Siouxland that we do have the newest, upgraded equipment in Sioux City, that we have better capabilities now that gets you in and gets you out in emergency situations that often is very vital to saving muscle in the heart," said Steve Church,  Director of Cardiology & Surgery.

Church said the upgrades cost more than $4,000,000.
