The Sioux City Explorers scored three runs in the ninth inning to beat first place Fargo-Moorhead 4-3 on Monday.

The Sioux City Explorers scored three runs in the ninth inning to beat first place Fargo-Moorhead 4-3 on Monday night at Newman Outdoor Field.
The X's (23-26) jumped on top when Leugim Barroso scored an unearned run in the top of the first after an error by Fargo catcher Todd Jennings to make it 1-0.
The Redhawks (29-21) tied the game in the second inning when first baseman Keith Brachold led off with a home run off of X's starter Dan Jurik to make it 1-1. Jurik also had nine strikeouts through the first six innings.
The Redhawks took a 3-1 lead in the seventh. Centerfielder Nic Jackson's two out, bases loaded single gave Fargo-Moorhead a two run advantage and knocked Jurik out of the game.
Sioux City rallied in the ninth. Luke Murton singled to drive in Peter Barrows, who had doubled, to make it 3-2. Pinch runner Gilbert Briones scored on a sacrifice fly by Yusuke Inoguchi and the game was tied 3-3. Catcher Adrian Martinez then hit a double with two outs to bring home Bryan Pounds to put Sioux City in front 4-3.
Jon Plefka picked up the win in relief. Chris Bodishbaugh pitched the ninth inning to earn the save.
The four game series ends with a 7:02 game on Tuesday. The X's start a four game series in Sioux Falls on Wednesday and return home Sunday to play first place Wichita.
