Fatal accident in Norfolk, Neb. involving SUV and motorcycle
One person has died in the collision of a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle in Norfolk, Nebraska. It happened near the intersection of Omaha Avenue and Pierce Street around 8:30 Monday night. Authorities have not released details of the crash or the names of those involved. A two-block stretch of East Omaha Avenue was closed off for several hours following the crash.
Cleanup continues in Elk Point, South Dakota after a storm packing straight-line winds Sunday night knocked down trees in parts of town. Trisha Rasmussen took the day off work Monday to start cleaning up the mess in her yard, including a tree that fell on her car. The storm also knocked down trees and power lines in several Sioux City neighborhoods.
The days of curbside glass recycling appear to be numbered in Sioux City. Last night, the city council approved the first of three readings of a plan to stop accepting glass curbside. Officials say it has become too expensive. Glass can still be dropped off at the old landfill free of charge. The city is also looking at adding other drop-off locations for glass.
