Okoboji golf tournament raises money for art center
The Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji, Iowa is enjoyed by many, and today folks were able to give back to the facility and have a little fun at the same time.
The Bud Pearson Celebrity Golf Classic was held at the nearby Brooks Golf Course.
The tournament is one of several fundraiser's hosted by the art center every year.
The Pearson Center offers summer art classes for children in a variety of categories ranging from paper mac he African masks to folk art animal sculptures.
Kids ages 3 to 18 can sign up for the classes.
The money from today's golf tournament will specifically benefit the preschool art programs by funding transportation costs, instructor fees, and supply purchases.
"Without these fundraiser's, you aren't able to survive, you aren't able to operate through the cold winter months, so to speak, so it's really important to nonprofit to have good funding sources through fundraiser's that help them operate," said Tom Tourville, Director at the Pearson Lakes Art Center.
Of the eight local celebrities who competed in the tournament, two were our very own Kristie VerMulm and Brad Pautsch.
