The X's failed to score a run for the second straight game in their 2-0 loss.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KTIV) -
Sioux City managed eight hits but couldn't manage a run as Sioux Falls blanked the Explorers for the second straight game, in a 2-0 victory on Friday night.
It's the second time in three weeks have lost four straight.
Andy Noga took the loss for Sioux City despite pitching eight strong innings, giving up just five hits. He also struck out four.
The Canaries opened the scoring in the third on Nick Van Stratten's lead off home run to put Sioux Falls out front 1-0.
Two innings later, the Canaries struck against this time on a sac-fly to take a two run lead.
Still trailing 2-0 heading into the ninth, the X's had runners on second and first, but Alan DeRatt closed the door on any hopes of a comeback getting Bryan Pounds to ground into the 6-4-3 double play to end the game.
Sioux City falls to 23-30 and 12.5 games back of Central Division leading Wichita. The X's will try to avoid being swept by Sioux Falls on Saturday. First pitch is et for 7:05 p.m.
