Wichita hands X's sixth straight loss, 7-2

The Sioux City Explorers dropped their sixth straight contest Sunday night at Lewis & Clark Park, 7-2, to Central Division leading Wichita.

The win is the Wingnuts 10th straight and pushes their overall record to 38-18.  Sioux City falls to 23-32 on the year.

X's starter Jason Jarvis took the loss, giving up six runs in seven innings of work.

Wichita jumped out front in the second on a three run homer by Jared McDonald.  Sam Judah pulled Sioux City within 3-1 with a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the frame.

In the third, John Rodriguez answered with a two-run blast off the video board in center field to open up a 5-2 lead for the division leaders.

The Explorers pulled within 5-2 on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the inning, but starter Anthony Capra struck out Yusuke Inoguchi to end the inning and avoid any further damage.

Sioux City will look to end the six game skid Monday night in the second of three games against Wichita. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
