Founded in 1863, it's the first Norwegian Lutheran Church in the Dakota Territory. They've had three buildings over the years. This one is located a few miles north of Elk Point.

This weekend, the 150 member congregation will hold a cemetery walk at 4 p.m. and Barbecue, with a performance from the Sioux Valley Singers at seven.

"The church has gotten really excited about this. This is a really big deal, especially to see so many people who have moved away come back and reconnecting with families and past and stuff," said Rev. David Bentz, St. Paul Lutheran Church Pastor.

The anniversary worship service will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with the Bishop from Sioux Falls. Lunch will follow and doves will be released at approximately 2 p.m..
