Weight in Gold

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - How's this for motivation?

Swapping those unwanted pounds for gold.

The government of the United Arab Emirates has launched a competition where participants are awarded gold for shedding weight.

The weigh-in was held in Dubai Friday.

They'll be given a gram of gold for every kilogram, or two-point-two pounds, they lose over the next month.

But they must lose at least two kilograms, or four-point-four pounds, to get the reward.

It's an effort by the government of the UAE to promote healthier lifestyles.

Participants had to commit to staying away from unhealthy weight loss methods.
