Lawton-Bronson was held to two hits and lost to third-ranked Durant, 2-0, in round one of the state softball tournament on Monday.

"I just told them to keep their heads up, have a little pride in themselves," said first year Lawton-Bronson head coach Lora Vaske. "Not many people thought we would be here but I knew we would. We just went 2-0 with the number-3 ranked team in the state, who's got a .340 batting average. I thought we played great. Our bats just didn't show up tonight."

The Eagles (23-11) will play #6 Fort Dodge St. Edmond in the consolation round on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.
