Blue Zones Project adds second designated worksite
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Everyone wants to be in a positive, healthy work environment, and that's what the Blue Zones Project aims to create.
On Wednesday, UnityPoint-Health St.Luke's cut the ribbon to announce it will become the latest Blue Zones worksite.
The Sioux City hospital was already encouraging healthier lifestyle choices like using the stairs instead of the elevator.
But, hospital officials said they're happy with the designation.
"It encourages all the things that we've been talking about, and all the things we've been working on here at St. Luke's for a lot of years, then the Blue Zone helps to kind of solidify that," Manager of Employee Health and Wellness Faye Tompkins said.
This is the second designated worksite for the Blue Zones Project in the city.
Van Meter was the first.
Blue Zones officials said they will be announcing another site within the next few weeks.
