Sioux City's future interim city manager discusses his new role

Assistant City Manager Robert Padmore will serve as the interim City Manager starting August 20th.

Padmore said he was surprised by Paul Eckert's resignation, and since the time he found out it's been a "whirlwind of unknowns."

Padmore said he plans to learn all he can about the new position from Eckert in the next few weeks.

"There's some things I haven't been involved in, and I'm going to lean on him real heavy over the next few weeks to get as much information as I can about what those are, and what needs to be done," Padmore said.

Padmore said he's considering applying for the City Manager position.

And, in the interim, he'll have the chance to see if the job is really for him.

"If it turns out that I'm happy and this is where I want to be, I would have no regrets. But, this gives me the opportunity to try it out and see if it's something I really want to go for," Padmore said.

He added the biggest challenge will be having to juggle many more assignments than ever before, but he feels prepared for it, and is looking forward to working closely with the city council.
