Errors costly in W'Bury Central's loss to No. 1 Newman Catholic at state

Woodbury Central ends the year with 20-10 record.
After rallying from an early five run deficit, errors proved to costly as Woodbury Central fell to No. 1 Newman Catholic 11-6 in the opening round of the Class 1A State baseball tournament in Des Moines.
The Knights took advantage of the extra outs in the first inning, scoring five runs in the opening frame.
Woodbury Central answered with three of it's own in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by Zach Klingensmith's two-RBI double.
Klingensmith came through again for the Wildcats in the second. Trailing 5-3, the senior laced a double down the right field line, scoring Caleb Custer, making it a 5-4 game.
An inning later, Luke Klingensmith tied the game up at five on a fielder's choice and error by the second baseman.
Despite having the top ranked team in 1A on the ropes, the Knights broke the stalemate scoring six runs over the final four innings to claim victory.
Jake Mize took the loss, tossing six innings before being lifted.
Woodbury Central ends the season with a 20-10 record.
