Plainview, NE man has standoff with SWAT team

PLAINVIEW (US92) - A Plainview man is behind bars on assault charges after a standoff with the  Nebraska State Patrol SWAT team Sunday morning.

Nebraska State Patrol officials say around 6:30 a.m. troopers were called to a Plainview home where a female alleged she had been assaulted by her ex-husband, Billy Ray Hoscheit.

The two lived in the same home, along with an 11-year-old child.  When troopers arrived, Hoscheit refused to come out of the house. The child was also inside.

When negotiations with the man failed and with the possibility of a hostage situation, the State Patrol's SWAT team was deployed and a stand-off began.

Just after 1 p.m., the stand-off with troopers ended when Hoscheit turned himself in.  He was arrested on domestic assault charges and taken to the Pierce County Jail.

The female victim was taken to the Plainview Hospital where she was treated for her injures, which included bruises and cuts.   The 11-year-old child was not inured.
