Luke Murton had three of Sioux City's seven hits during the X's 6-2 loss to Gary on Monday.
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -
The Sioux City Explorers lost the opening game of a six game home stand, 6-2, to Gary Southshore on Monday at Lewis and Clark Park.
After four scoreless innings, X's starting pitcher Jason Jarvis gave a run in the fifth to trail 1-0. Sioux City tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double by Bryan Pounds.
The Railcats (40-29) scored three more times in the sixth and two more times in the seventh to build a 6-1 advantage. Jarvis left the game with one out in the seventh, having given up six runs on 13 hits.
Sioux City (26-43) got their second run when Yusuke Inoguchi scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning. Luke Murton had three of the X's seven hits.
Game two of the three game series is Tuesday at 7:05.
