Peter Barrows had three hits in the X's 9-3 loss to Gary-Southshore on Wednesday.
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -
The Sioux City Explorers closed July with a 9-3 loss to Gary-Southshore on Wednesday night. The X's were 9-20 in July and one just one of eight series' during the month.
Sioux City got on the board in the second inning. Bryan Pounds extended his hitting streak to seven games with an RBI single to score Peter Barrows and give the X's a 1-0 lead. Barrows and Pounds each had three hits to lead the Sioux City (27-44) attack.
Gary (41-30) scored three runs in the third to take the lead for good. The Railcats had four consecutive two out hits off of Sioux City starter Ryan Lucero. The Railcats also scored runs in the fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth innings to pull away.
The Explorers are off on Thursday and welcome Lincoln to town for a three game series starting on Friday.
