Veterans pay tribute to George "Bud" Day

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Many local veterans were in attendance at George "Bud" Day's memorial to pay tribute to the fallen hero.

Some knew Bud from childhood, some had met him during college, others who never got the chance to meet Day still spoke of his greatness and how important it was to honor him.

Representatives of each of the wars he fought in were there to remember his legacy.

"He and I are world war 2 and the other fellows are from Vietnam, so we're here as a group to honor bud," George Semple, World War II Veteran.

"I remembered bud and I wanted to honor him and remember some of the things," Jack Jessip, World War II Veteran.

"I felt that we all honored a great man, a hero and that's the reason I came...I wanted to come," James Schrader, Korean War Veteran.

Those from the VFW said they were very happy with the heartfelt tribute to the legend.
