Vermillion, SD will welcome 200 jobs with Eagle Creek expansion

Eagle Creek Software Services, an information technology services company will begin hiring on a larger scale as the opening of the business nears next spring.

This lot will house a cutting edge business come spring of 2014.

"The folks at Eagle Creek decided to make something happen, and everyone in this community, from the university to the development corporation to the city council to the county commission, everybody decided to make this work. And it has, and it will continue to do so," Jim Abbott, President of USD said.

Eagle Creek Software Services is coming to Vermillion and they chose the town for a reason. The work ethic and potential found in the South Dakota town is exactly what the company's president says he was looking for.

"In other states, it just doesn't happen. There's much, much, much talk and no action. South Dakota is a place of action, and that's what we love about it," Ken Behrendt, President of Eagle Creek said.

Eagle Creek is excited about their future in the Vermillion community and very optimistic about what the future holds for the company, but their favorite part about the entire experience is their partnership with the University of South Dakota.

"When you look at the university system, they not only present a supply to us, a supply of people, but it's a way to actually bring in new technologies into the organization. Generally speaking, university systems are progressive with technologies, and our customers are progressive with technologies. So we think that's going to marry up quite nicely," Behrendt said.

The university and other businesses in the community are excited about Vermillion's newest business, too. The jobs, facility, and partnership of such a business is encouraging for the town. The company is already operating with a few employees and will be hiring additional help on a small scale until the completion of the building next year.

"It seems like it's a growing company, and it's always good to get hired on and get recognition from growing companies," Jared Goedhart, Eagle Creek employee said.

A company now growing in the heartland of the country.
