Lewis & Clark encampment returns to the banks of the Missouri River

Two years after the flood, an annual Sioux City commemoration is returning to the riverfront.

This Saturday and Sunday Sergeant Floyd Memorial Encampment will be held on the grounds of the River Museum. The encampment brings the historical tale to life with reenactments, authentic tents, and historically accurate uniforms and equipment.

The team kept the show going regardless of the flood, but they're excited to bring the event back to its home on the riverfront. "We're very pleased to bring back the riverfront. It's a good chance for people to come down and take a look at the improvements that have been made. The riverfront isn't 100 percent recovered, but it really looks good," Steve Hansen, Museum Director said.

The annual commemoration of the Lewis and Clark expedition is free and open to the public.

They'll have children's activities starting at ten on Saturday morning, followed by portrayals of the historical tale at 1 that afternoon.
