Construction continues at Washington Elementary

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - While most schools were opening their doors today, one is just a shell of its former self.

The Site of Washington Elementary is now just a hole in the ground.

The foundation is being established, but it's still a long way until the multimillion dollar project is complete.

The change for students and staff has been a challenge, but the wait will be worth it.

School principal Dawn Stansbury says she can't wait for the future of Washington elementary.

"It's exciting to be in a new place and it's exciting to think that in two years from now we'll be in a new building." said Stansbury.

The new Washington school should be up and operational the fall of 2015.
