Clay County, Iowa jail is now up and running

The new Clay County, Iowa jail is now up and running.  Officials began moving in inmates on Thursday.

The sheriff's department has been working for the past couple of weeks to put the finishing touches on the new building.

Sheriff Randy Krukow says this jail has been talked about for the past three decades.

With 30 beds, the new facility can hold federal, state and local prisoners.

To pay for the $6M jail, voters, last May, approved to renew an expiring 43 cent bond.
